Anthony Giovannetti, designer at Mega Crit, has announced that Slay the Spire will be releasing on PS4 later this month.
The procedurally generated roguelike dungeon crawler features a unique twist on the genre. As player progress through the Spire, they will build a deck to fight the enemies they encounter, adding new cards after every battle. The cards offered to the player are randomized, ensuring that no two runs will be the same.
Players can choose between three characters with three unique styles of gameplay. The Defect, a mechanical combat unit that has gained sentience, uses elemental orbs in combat and buffs to make those orbs stronger. The Silent, an assassin and hunter, uses poisons to deal damage over time and weaken her opponents. And the Ironclad can shield himself from enemy attacks and deal out massive amounts of damage.
Slay the Spire is currently available on PC and will be available on PlayStation 4 May 21. A Nintendo Switch release is scheduled for 2019 but does not currently have a release date.
