19 years after the release of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Larian Studios has announced that they are working on Baldur’s Gate 3.
The trailer shows an unfortunate knight undergoing the terrifying process of ceremophosis, becoming a Mindflayer in pretty much the worst way possible.
Mindflayers are notorious in Dungeons & Dragons as terrible psionic monsters who control the minds of their victims and work to take over all sentient life. They also eat the brains of people so that’s exciting.
Larian Studios also released a short community update video about how they got the rights to Baldur’s Gate 3 and it’s pretty silly.
Baldur’s Gate 3 does not currently have a release date but hopefully we will see more of it at E3.
