The first trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film is here and it’s certainly something special.
Look at him.
There he is.
The trailer, set to Gangster’s Paradise, has Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz, getting in trouble with the U.S. military, running faster than the speed of sound, and beating up robots. All classic Sonic things.
Sonic, who seems to be living in a garbage-filled cabin in the woods, by Sherrif Tom Wachowski, played by James Marsden, and they have to save the planet from something? Probably Dr. Robotnik but the plot seems a little light in this trailer.
We also get a look at how Jim Carrey will be portraying Dr. Robotnik, a slightly different approach to the character but feels very Jim Carrey in his delivery.
At the end of the trailer, there is a sneak peek of Robotnik sporting a redder mustache and looking a little more like the classic villain from the games.
What are the mushrooms behind him? What is he holding? Who knows, but the trailer promises it will be a wild ride.
Sonic the Hedgehog is set to release in theaters November 8.
