Borderlands 3 Twitch Extension Rewards Players for Watching Livestream

Gearbox Software has announced that they are partnering with Twitch to launch the ECHOcast Twitch extension for Borderlands 3, which will allow players to earn in-game items and interact with streamers during the Gameplay Reveal Event.

The Gameplay Reveal Event will be the first time players can experience live gameplay of the upcoming first-person shooter.

In addition to the reveal, viewers on Twitch will be able to interact with their favorite streamers in a few ways. By clicking on a small Vault icon, viewers will be able to view the profile of the streamer’s character. This will give viewers access to equipment lay outs, weapon stats, and a full breakdown of character skill trees.

Viewers will also be able to participate in rare chest events. As streamers open up rare chests in-game, viewers will have 30 seconds to opt into a chance to win some of those items in their own game.

The extension will notify viewers if they win, giving them 30 seconds to choose which item they will receive. In order to claim the items from their in-game inbox, viewers must link their Twitch account to a SHiFT account. Items collected this way will be scaled to the level of the player when they accept them.

Borderlands 3 is scheduled to release on September 13 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One. The PC release will be exclusively on the Epic Game Store until April 2020.
