Remember playing Legend of Zelda for the first time and not really being sure who Zelda was? Zelda is in the name so it has to be who you’re playing as right? Turns out a lot of people were confused, including the Japanese publication Shonen Captain.
In 1986, the same year Nintendo would release The Legend of Zelda on the NES, Shonen Captain mistakenly depicted Link as a woman, and had some amazing art to show the hero in action. Twitter user kazzykazycom recently posted these images and they’re worth taking time to check out.
Funnily enough, Nintendo would eventually release Linkle much later on the 2016 Hyrule Warriors Legends on the 3DS though she wields two crossbows and isn’t the legendary hero of time.
